My main concern is loss of agricultural land in the light of threats to the nation's food security. Solar panels should be installed on roofs or on brownfield sites instead. The sheer size of the proposed development would create travel problems during construction for local businesses, residents and cyclists. The visual impact would be enormous and last for much longer than the impact of construction work, with depressing consequences for residents. I cannot believe that the development would have no significant effect on wildlife in the area, or that it would not contribute to flooding problems already experienced in the area, e.g. at Greatford. The production of solar panels in China may recommend it to some as a means of reducing the UK's carbon emissions, but this should be weighed against the forced labour probably used in their manufacture.
