By way of context I have been a resident of Carlby for the last 25 years and throughout this period I regular walk and run (3 times/week) through the wonderful countryside that will be impacted. The main concern is this project will lead to a gross industrialisation of a really pleasant rural landscape resulting in loss of tourism, harm to the local economy, lower property values, loss of open spaces and the impact on mental health and wellbeing of residents and visitors. Proposed mitigation strategies are poor. Solar farms are inefficient in terms of the land required to generate a given amount of energy meanwhile taking prime agricultural land out of use. The other major concern is the construction traffic accessing an area that has poor road infrastructure, with many narrow twisty roads that are very unsuitable for the level and type of traffic envisioned. If this project were to go ahead there does not seem to be any measures put in place to significantly compensate local residents.
