I object to land being taken away from farming for solar use, it should be on roof tops on barns and new builds, that way we don’t lose a finite and precious resource for one whose efficacy has not so far been proven - also I object to the way these panels are made - breathtakingly carbon unfriendly - unrecyclable and probably not replaceable for this reason when they stop working in 10 years. I have seen nonsense about sheep grazing underneath them - sheep eat grass which requires sunlight and rain to grow. High quality and healthy sheep require high quality and healthy grass. They are - like us - what they eat. These sun panels are basically sun traps - they maximise their exposure to the sun and will be densely packed into fields - how exactly is the grass going to grow? This scheme is not built on “what is the best way to use out land” it is being built on “how can I make money TODAY” by people with no long term interest in the uk - either in our food or energy security and who will be in a position to sell this electricity back to us (or not) at a price of their setting - it is badly thought out and future generations will not thank anyone that sacrifices so much for so little
