Building over agricultural land in such a way is entirely inappropriate use of the nation’s resource. Investment in solar panels on existing housing stock (generally) would be a far better idea and ensure the electricity generated is far more efficient, being closer to the point of use and without the loss due to transmission over distances from a rural location. Such developments are also an eyesore and due to proximity to the ground represent a hazard due to direct sunlight reflection
