I consider it borderline insanity to even consider covering valuable farmland with an ocean of solar panels. An area so vast that its impact will be considerably damaging in a multitude of ways. We need our farmland. Food shortages in the press only compound the need for produce to be grown in our own country. Yet farmers are paid to not farm. Who, I wonder, is profiting the most from this madness. Not only that, the ugly eyesore of a vast swathe of panels is repugnant. I spend a lot of my time in this particular area of the countryside, as do others, and the thought of it being destroyed in such a manner is heartbreaking - when there are clearly other options available. If this project gets the go ahead, it will be an utter travesty, and everyone involved should be deeply ashamed.
