I wanted to comment on the scale of the proposal. I am in favour of renewable energy but not on a large scale in one area where the parent organisation which is often not located in the area or even the UK gaining the profits. Solar panels often only last a certain time before requiring to be replaced and so I want to understand the life of the panels and plan once they reach this level. What is the cost of installing the panels (£ and to impact the environment of lorries and contractors being on site). There appears to be little offered in the way of compensating controls to provide the area with agricultural land or land where trees, lakes and wildlife can be encouraged. If land is taken up with solar panel and houses the amount of open space will be minimised. If the government cares about the environment why does it not mandate all new houses must have solar panels on the roofs? The government should make the company planning to put the solar panels in responsible for paying for the sustainable disposal and any profits being provided to help schools and communities implement sustainable projects. I can not understand the benefit to the local community of having such a large scale solar site. I assume the benefit of the scale is profit which the local community would not benefit in full from.
