  • The scheme is taking out 1,052 acres of valuable farmland and will be a blot on the landscape for many years, as well as reducing rights of way. There are many brownfield sites in the area that could be used with less environmental impact * Construction work will involve great disruption over two years, and lorry traffic will use narrow roads passing two schools, in addition to the travel arrangements of 400 workers six days a week, causing heavy pollution * 530,000 solar panels produced in and transported from China at great cost environmentally. There's also the question of whether slave labour might be involved in their production. The technology is changing all the time and there are more efficient, less polluting ways of generating electricity There is no guarantee that the funding will be secured for decommissioning: the current application has no time limit *There is no benefit to the community. Indeed the existing flood risk will be increased, and any such construction will be immensely stressful for those of us living in the vicinity *The loss of wildlife habitat in an area with a rich environment
