Exceedingly large scale will change the entire agricultural and rural nature of this corner of Rutland into an industrial landscape. A limited well ringfenced solar area around the sub-station would be a better approach and would also lessen the impact which the creation and construction of what is being proposed will have on the environment, the wildlfe and the human communities. As a farmer and landowner I feel blackmailed by the compulsory purchase provisions which are being applied for. I have spent 40+ years improving the landscape and feel through owning the land I can prevent inappropriate developments on it. This proposal is inappropriate. We have solar panels on all our grain store roofs. Would suggest that planners could require any new buildings, commercial and residential, to have rooftop solar. The development of Small Modular Reactors will hopefully provide a better alternative to solar farms. In the meantime solar farms should be restricted to industrial areas or other brownfield sites.
