Huge scale of area affected is totally inappropriate, not sympathetic to surroundings, with 3.3 high solar panels, 2m high security fencing, CCTV and security lighting, machinery in storage containers. Construction work of at least 2 years duration will dramatically affect the lives of people living nearby, as will maintenance work thereafter. Mallard’s mitigation measures re screening (planting trees and hedges) are laughable as they will take 15+yrs to grow). We can’t lose valuable agricultural land when as a country we are told to be more self reliant food-wise. Local leisure pursuits of hiking, walking, riding will cease in this land of 3.3m high solar panels. Nearby villagers will have to live with the lighting and noise, Wild life here and in the outlying countryside will be seriously damaged. Solar farms should be located on rooftops, previously developed or contaminated land, industrial and low-grade agricultural land, not on high-grade land. This project will detrimentally affect the natural beauty and heritage of the region. It is 1 mile from Stamford, the most beautiful and historical stone town in England, with it’s alleys, many churches and narrow streets; and Burghley House, built by Lord Cecil, the right hand man of Queen Elizabeth 1 is only a couple of miles further on. Will the area continue to attract tourism if this project is given the go-ahead? I am more than aware of the need to go green, indeed my son heads a renewables company in London. But this project has too many faults to be granted permission to go ahead. Julia Wight
