We must protect our agricultural land, a natural and major asset of our country. The scale of this project will totally erode the base of a beautiful part of the world. The loss of landscape and natural environment would be detrimental to the biodiversity in the area. I do not believe that any assessments carried out by any of the organisations involved in this project will be an honest reflection of the damage to the environment and the various species that live here. Agreeing to this project makes us all overtly complicit in the sanction or official approval of human rights abuses carried out in far flung corners of the world such as China. As a democratic and a free nation, we should be totally against their involvement in any project affecting our country. The movement of heavy traffic in our beautiful countryside will affect the lives and mental health of all who live in this area. This project is not for the greater good of humanity. It is, from a political and socioeconomic perspective, just about making money for a small group of privileged people. These groups know how to ‘spin’ their messages and how to create data and interpret them in their favour. They do not care about our environment, they are simply concerned about lining their own pockets.
