The land proposed to be occupied is prime arable farmland. Since the country is being encouraged to grow as much of our food as possible it ought not to be used for a project such as this. Brownfield sites or the roofs of large buildings (such as warehouses or blocks of flats) ought o have been investigated, and still should. It is hard to avoid the feeling that Mallard Pass did not try very hard to investigate other possibilities and that the site, on the edge of Rutland the smallest county in England, was chosen by this Canadian company as being likely to generate little opposition.
