I totally agree with ways to create renewable energy must be explored but not at the expense of sacrificing arable land. If this development is to be allowed over 2000 acres of farmland will be taken out of food productions for generations. Solar power is not an effective method of producing electricity in our climate. Solar power can be generated on brownfield sites. Crops cannot be grown on brownfield sites. This massive Solar Farm proposal not only impacts our food production but will have serious consequences to our countryside and the health and wellbeing of its community. The majority of home owners and councils would welcome roofing solar panels. To allow this proposed solar farm, which is 8 times bigger than the largest solar farm in the UK would be nothing short of an annihilation of productive, prosperous and stunning countryside, which will be lost forever. Let us considered all the long term implications and not just focus on a quick solution to our energy crisis.
