Regarding Mallard Park Solar Farm. It seems a pretty ineffective use of agricultural land that the area covered by this solar farm would be an additional 30 to 50% of the area that the 92,000 properties that it would supposedly provide energy for currently cover. These panels need to be put on the roofs of these 92,000 homes, on industrial and retail units, above car parks or even be floated offshore alongside the wind farms. If solar is to become a credible source of energy then we are going to have to find a less wasteful, ironically less destructive way to the environment to bring it about. Climate change will undoubtedly affect the foods we currently import and therefore we will need this land more for our food security than energy security. There are so many beautiful walks such as between Braceborough and Shillingthorpe Park and south from near Braceborough Little Wood to the railway line. Even if the rights of way remain who would want to walk them if all you see is panels and fencing?
