There are several points that need to be raised. The solar panels are being manufactured in China, and then shipped to Canada, and then shipped the UK - surely this is one of the highest CO2 impacted projects you could take on, and definitely not inline with our climate goals. The backing company is Chinese, why are we letting this investment be owned by a the Chinese, instead of a UK business? The impact on our surrounding area is going to be immense. Today we have green fields where the wildlife can roam free. This project will have all fields fenced off, where are the dear to go then? In addition, the local roads are very small, and in need of serious pothole repair - how are these roads going to cope with heavy goods vehicles. With the huge problems we're seeing this week around food shortages due to poor harvests across the globe, and the war in Ukraine, why are we not looking to use this land for our own wheat, corn, oats, barley production? Instead the land will be redundant for the next 70 years!
