Although I am 'FOR' Solar Power as a useful, and essential, source of power in our National power needs, I believe the proposed project is too big and will have a detrimental effect on the environment, and community in which I live. I will not repeat the valid objections raised by others (loss of habitat, loss of productive land, loss of amenity etc) but this seems to me to be a project geared, and scaled, more towards optimising 'Return to shareholders and investors' rather than bring benefit to our communities. There is nothing in the proposed Project outline that will bring any tangible benefit to the people it will affect most. Not even a 'discount on energy prices, in lieu of the loss that will affect the community'. How can that be? Our community has all the pain but no gain. As the world changes, I recognise that sacrifices will need to be made (we can't continue the way we have always done so - we need new renewable energy sources) but why is commonsense (the scheme is obviously too big) being ignored in the pursuit of corporate profit?
