The idea of using productive farmland to host solar panels is so ridiculous that I can hardly believe the government is seriously considering it. At the current time, food security is more important than at any time since the second world war. Look at the shortages on supermarket shelves and the raging inflation in food prices, both happening now. Solar panels should be installed on rooftops, marshland, barren hillsides or even offshore, but never on good agricultural land.
