I wish to object in the strongest terms. The industrialisation of my local countryside will totally change the environment. The impact during construction will destroy normal rural life for an extended period of time. The compulsory purchase orders were not given enough notice or mentioned at all during the consultation periods. I am from a farming background. There will be an impact on jobs at a time when we should be increasing our market gardening and arable farming in order to provide for the home population and reduce our dependency on imports from abroad. In any case, it is unproven that large scale solar farms are the best way of producing sustainable power in our climate. Investment should go into tidal power and wind farms at sea. At least these can operate for more hours in the day. After unobtrusive sites, eg rooftops and brown field, have been exhausted, it would then be preferable to have small scale solar farms to reduce the environmental effects. The UK does not have large areas of low population where the effects are more accepted, eg deserts.
