I am writing to object the Mallard Pass. I set out the reasons below and cannot understand why we as a nation would allow the use of productive farmland to be used for generating power before ensuring all new development have solar panels as a condition of planning permission. I grew up in the area going to school at Witham Hall only a few miles from the proposed Solar Farm and also at Kirkstone House at Baston also less than ten miles distant. The development would ruin a rural area making it semi industrial. I have been looking into renewable resources and it would appear to me that rather than industrialising a beautiful rural area it would be much better to encourage householders to be self sufficient with energy and help them install their own solar panels combined with battery storage. I have set out below the specific objections I have to this development. Yours Sincerely, Justin Taylor Subject: Mallard Pass ? 1. It is eight times larger than any other solar site in the UK at over 2,000 acres, the majority of which is in the beautiful county of rural Rutland, the smallest county in England 2. It will be an eyesore to this attractive agricultural area, with large solar panels over such a vast part of high grade farming land, together with transformer, high security fences and lighting making the previously very attractive area a complete eyesore. 3. The wildlife in the area will either be badly injured or despatched completely by the solar panels construction. 4. The country roads are not suitable for all the 50/60 HGV lorries using them daily and will cause chaos for daily traffic users, there being three schools in the immediate area as well as horse riders and cyclists, and children walking being put at risk. 5. When we are crying out for more production of food in this country, why create this eyesore in good top grade agricultural land? If we have to have Solar panel why can’t they be put on all new build factories and houses and on unproductive land? 6. There appears to be much concern about [Redacted] (now Chinese based) using the Uyghur region forced labour which is unforgivable and should never be used in the UK or the West, and the make up of the directors involved in Mallard Pass should be investigated before any furtherance of the decision.
