I am resident close to the area of the proposed Mallard Pass. My main concern - and objection to the scheme - is the impact on farm land and the local environment. We are currently suffering from a shortage of various fruit and vegetables and we need to be protecting our natural farmland to enable us to produce more of our own food rather than relying on importing from other countries. We need to be protecting our land, and our farmland, to be able to support our need - and nutritional imperative - for locally sourced produce. We also need to be protecting our environment, our wildlife and our flora and fauna. Given the proposal to build numerous very large housing developments around Stamford, we will end up with no countryside left. One of the significant benefits of living in Rutland as it is now is it's proximity to beautiful countryside. This is in serious danger of disappearing all together.
