I’m concerned that this proposal is on farmland and the detrimental effect this will have on our precious wildlife. There must be brownfield sites that could be used for solar panels instead of farmland that should be used to feed our country. Surely this would be a greener option. I would be more than happy to have solar panels on my house rather than creating vast areas of solar farms. The benefits to our mental health and wellbeing would be drastically affected if we weren’t able to enjoy our daily walks taking in the changing seasons and the wildlife around us. Having lived most of my life in a heavily industrialised area I know just how important this is. The solar panels have a finite life and use precious and rare resources are used to make them. What happens to them at the end of their life. How would they be greenly recycled if at all. Isn’t this just a way of turning farmland into brownfield sites that eventually will be developed and we will have lost our farmland and countryside forever.
