I am strongly opposed to the development of solar farms in Lincolnshire. This is one of four nationally significant infrastructure projects within a few miles. The four proposals are being examined independently, but they should be considered together to assess the aggregate impact. Thousands of acres of prime farmland will be lost and more food will have to be imported adding significantly to the global carbon footprint. It is madness to ruin beautiful countryside and affect natural habitats in this way. Surely it makes more sense to build these awful things on Brownfield sites, if they have to be built at all. I read with interest of government’s health departments emphasis upon “Green social prescribing“, which is the health benefit derived from the countryside. The industrialisation of Lincolnshire will surely have a massive impact upon peoples’ mental health. It has certainly had a considerable effect on my own. I am utterly miserable and depressed at the appalling prospect of the countryside being ruined in this way.
