The West Burton Solar Project is one of four currently going through the NSIP process in this area. The others are; Cottam Solar Project Gate Burton Energy Park Tillbridge Solar A further project, Stow Park proposed by Luminous Energy is outwith the NSIP process, but is a de-facto extension of the West Burton project. The proposals when aggregated could take 10,000 acres of arable land out of production for 40-60 years. Given the current events in Ukraine, fertilizer costs and the drive to reduce carbon output, any further reduction in national food self sufficiency seems foolhardy at best. Given the cumulative size of the proposals they must be considered together, with local people and businesses given full opportunity to raise their concerns.
