Unfortunately this is another solar project of many put forward for construction on good quality farmland in North Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, which if allowed to go ahead will create an industrialised landscape over a vast area of existing farmland. Whilst I support the transition from fossil fuel energy to greener forms of energy there are far more appropriate places to use for this scale of solar energy production other than erecting many square kilometres of solar panels on good food producing farmland. At a time when climate change events and wars are adversely affecting global food supply chains it is more important than ever to protect our farmland to feed the nation. I doubt the claims of the applicants that these solar schemes will promote greater bio-diversity as hectare upon hectare of solar panels will produce a very sterile environment, not to mention the visual catastrophe they will create. The right place for these solar projects is on the decommissioned power stations along the Trent valley next to existing grid network connections, commercial and domestic roofs, which avoids the loss of productive farmland.
