The rural amenity that generations of Aldington villagers have enjoyed would be badly affected by this proposed development. Any screening would be ineffective on the high ground and habitat loss would negatively impact much wildlife, including skylark, brown hares and badgers. The widespread distribution of batteries, with the associated fire risk, noise pollution and visual impact, for which there has not been adequate consultation, will be far too close to homes, often less than 300m, resulting in an industrialisation of the rural environment and loss of good quality farmland. Ancient footpaths would be closed or diverted, losing all meaning and historical significance. There has been no significant consultation about this, nor about the destruction of sites of archaeological interest which abound. This huge, ill thought out project would severely impact life in Aldington for all, benefiting only the few opportunists involved in the scheme. The stress of living through the long, noisy construction period alone could well adversely affect people's health as could the continuing collective grief for the loss of nature as hundreds of acres of countryside is industrialised forever. There are better places for solar power production where the losses would not outweigh the benefits. We all know where they are!
