I have already raised concerns about the proposed haul road which is proposed to cut across fields to the rear of our Grade II listed property. I do not understand why the existing road network cannot be widened where necessary to allow access to the site. Creating temporary roads will destroy yet more countryside and where they cross an existing road, no clarification of who will have right of way has been provided. I understand that the road to the Pit was widened for lorries to access it when it was a working quarry in the 60’s, so why can’t this be done? It seems an awful waste of time and money to put in a new temporary road when the existing road network could be improved and would have more benefits for communities long term. There must be a better solution. I understand that improvements to the grid are necessary but they should not be to the detriment of our countryside and wildlife. Disruption to residents should also be kept to the bare minimum. A new temporary haul road will take considerably longer to construct than widening existing roads will.
