Daws Hall Trust (DHT) is a registered charity with a 25 acre nature reserve adjacent to Henny Road, Lamarsh CO8 5EX, next to the proposed undergrounding in the Stour Valley Section G. DHT supports the proposed undergrounding and endorses the proposal that it should be by way of directional drilling. DHT wishes to emphasise that construction by trenching should be avoided so near this important mammal site because of the likelihood of cutting through or disrupting mammal trails which will be in use at night and to a lesser extent during the day. DHT also want to raise the issue of operations possibly taking place outside core working hours and maintain that work in the vicinity of DHT should be restricted to daylight hours and no floodlighting should be permitted. This is because floodlights will attract and disrupt the flight of nocturnal birds such as owls and nightingales and nocturnal insects such as moths. DHT also provides educational services to schoolchildren on a regular basis and expects to be consulted on any crossings on Henny Road (or otherwise in the vicinity of Daws Hall) controlled by traffic lights so that no long delays are experienced at the very moment when children's coaches are arriving and leaving.
