Whilst we welcome some of the changes that have been advanced by the promoter since the scheme was first proposed, we believe that the scheme currently before you could and should do more to mitigate its adverse impacts on local communities and on designated landscapes. Specifically, and following review of the documents recently submitted to the Examination Library, we wish to make summary representations in the following subject areas, in advance of detailed representations to the enquiry in due course on behalf of our parish. ? Impacts of the scheme on setting of the AONB – we are of the opinion that to protect the setting of this valuable landscape when viewed from within the AONB, additional lengths of undergrounding should be introduced, specifically (i) by moving the DVEast CSEC to the east of Millwood Road and into the Layham Quarry in Section D and (ii) throughout Section F. We believe that important viewpoints out of the AONB have not been presented which would adversely affect impact assessments of the current scheme, and request disclosure of the project costs associated with additional undergrounding options. ? Layham Quarry (currently closed) would make for an ideal construction camp and local source of material for construction purposes. ? Construction Traffic – we are concerned to ensure that B1068 (which carries a weight restriction of 18t to protect historic villages) is not used as an HGV access route for construction, and do not feel that the statements given on p13 of the Construction Traffic Management Plan (Doc 7.6) provide that assurance.
