The consultation process has been sent out via post and social media, there has been no public discussion from national grid with the villages to discuss this haul road. The time scale seems initially to have been five years and of a temporary nature and now maybe ten years and possible permanent access. The farm land being crossed will never return to the production levels that it has now and the environmental impact will be enormous as most of the similar projects already using this method have been over pasture. The small compensation offered will never replace the the loss of income to the farms and wider community. Many properties will be devalued in an already difficult financial time with many suffering with stress and mental health. The impact of the whole scheme has had a terrible effect on all the surrounding communities already and this will continue to last for many generations. Once again our rural communities are being damaged for the gain of towns and cities with no thought for the countryside they all flocked to in the pandemic because it was so beautiful.
