I object to the proposed Stonehenge tunnel because of the irreparable damage to the WHS that will be done. This is an historic part of the British landscape and should not be subjected to unnecessary development and planning. The proposed tunnelling is completely at odds wit hits archaeology and setting and also it is unnecessary. The site has been described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’ UNESCO’s international advisers do not sanction the development. There are archeological concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting - I understand damage has already been done to some adjacent graves. No real alternative options have been presented that would not damage the World Heritage Site The inability to view Stonehenge from the road is a great loss to all and makes the site more corporate, everyone should be free to view this amazing part of history and not be forced to pay to see the Stones in future There will be disturbance to rare bird species (Stone Curlew and Great Bustard) The faster moving traffic will create more noise pollution and diminish the area further.
