I am opposed to the work as presently proposed on the grounds that it will destroy an ancient landscape, untouched for millennia, so close to an archaeological site of international significance. The minor inconvenience of having to slow down on the A303 for a short stretch is trivial in comparison to the destruction of an area with such exciting possibilities to increase our knowledge of the ancient habitat. I note that the indiscriminate damage has already begun with the sinking of a bore hole right through the layers of the area possibly destroying the aurochs prints which have been found. I urge that another solution is found which does not interfere with landscape so much.
