Irreparable damage will be caused to this World Heritage Site, effecting its archaeology and setting as described by UNESCO ‘landscape without parallel’. UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form. There are major concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting, damage has already been done through workmen augering through the site without cconsulting the lead archaeologist. Over the 30 plus years of looking for solutions to the A303 ad it's problems, a number of alternatives that would not damage the World Heritage Site have been put forward but are lacking in the consultation. Studies have shown there will be an increase of noise and poltion from faster traffic. Should there be an accident within the tunnel, Emergency Services will find it very difficult to access and deal with the situation and traffic both before and after the accident site will be stuck with no alternative route to take.
