It is disgraceful that the concerns raised to date have been ignored and the option of building a longer tunnel to prevent damage to the WHS has not been chosen. This will cause irreparable damage to the WHS, its archaeology and setting, described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’. It is appalling that the advice fro UNESCO’s international advisers, who say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form, is being ignored. Concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting are being completely ignored.
There have been no alternative options included in the consultation that would not damage the World Heritage Site. Rare bird species will be disturbed (Stone Curlew and Great Bustard). There will be increased noise from faster traffic that is not contained in the tunnel. You have completely ignored all the concerns raised about these proposals and carried on anyway with a plan that has been rejected by UNESCO. We are not a country who behaves like this and descecrates World Heritage Sites. Shame on all of you if this terrible proposal goes ahead.
