I was able to visit Stonehenge in the the late 1960s when the site was relatively untouched. It saddens me that this wonderful experience can never be shared again. Stonehenge is more than just the rocks of the site itself. It is the whole setting that gives a sense of the sweep of its history. Now that will be destroyed in order to shave 5 min off peoples' commutes. This is sheer sacrilege.
