My primary objection to these works is that they will permanently damage the world heritage site of Stonehenge. This site in fact is more extensive than is generally realised and the proposed works will take place well within the extensive area which makes up the Stonehenge area. To me the whole area feels sacred and being of welsh parentage, ie truly British, being descended from the original British people I feel my ancestors built Stonehenge and I feel very strongly that it should not be disturbed. In this respect I also feel sad when I see hippies sitting on the Stones on the days of the solstice. I almost feel at one with my ancestors when I see the total Stonehenge site.

I think the proposed works will hugely damage the Stonehenge area and thus it is far preferable to put a higher fuel tax on all petrol and diesel vehicles in the UK than to be increasing motor transport.

I also feel that the additional road traffic noise in some parts of the site will further destroy the sense of peace and tranquillity which is vital to this sacred site.

It is also true that in future the only way to see the actual central area of the Stonehenge site will be to pay for entrance. This is completely unacceptable.
