The current proposal destroys part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, potentially damages the Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting and disturbs several rare bird species. This site is not simply a circumscribed ring of stones but a wide and unique historic landscape with a complex and interrelated series of monuments. The proposed road development is intolerable and irreparable vandalism based on a penny-pinching approach to the problem. To allow this proposal to proceed would be a crime against civilisation.
