I am very concerned about the future of Stonehenge, it seems to me that English heritage are taking it upon themselves to close down all the surrounding roads that give a view of Stonehenge, in order to generate more money. I visited Stonehenge in 2008, I was able to drive along the a344 , park on the side of the road, and view the stones. I then visited again in 2015, the road layout had completely altered, with very limited acces to 'the drove' side road. the a344 was closed, partly grassed over, the remaining section of road being used by Stonehenge shuttle buses and visitors walking from the new tourist centre (which I will not visit, due to the extortionate price increases) It is clear in my mind that English heritage are trying to shut down and control the area surrounding Stonehenge, it is now just a money making enterprise that should be stopped. They should not be allowed to close off the roads to stop people viewing stonehenge , this is a public historic landmark, the proposed road changes should not go ahead (the previous road closures should also not have happened) I will not be visiting Stonehenge again due to the measures taken by English heritage to make as much money as they can.
