To retain its historical authenticity, no further damage must be done to the site of Stonehenge. It is a World Heritage Site, and far more important in the long term than the convenience of having a wider road. To widen the road according to the present plan would amount to vandalism, and future generations would lose something precious. To safeguard the site and still alleviate the traffic by widening the road, a tunnel could be built, though it would have to be long enough not to cause irreparable damage to Stonehenge.
