  1. The A303 Stonehenge Expressway will irretrievably damage unique and very important and fragile archaeology. (Irreparable damage has already occurred at Blick Mead)
  2. The Expressway threatens the World Heritage Site status of the Stonehenge landscape. The World Heritage Committee and ICOMOS have already expressed their opposition.
  3. In archaeological terms it is impossible to separate Stonehenge from its surrounding landscape. To suggest that it is permissible to destroy bits of it to accommodate construction traffic and build portals and flyovers is to compromise the integrity of the whole area.
  4. We deplore the loss of archaeological information from sites excavated in the 19th century, but the people who did this really did not know any better. We do, or we should do. It this project goes ahead subsequent generations will, with justification, never forgive us.
