As an archaeologist, I am very concerned about the entire landscape around Stonehenge, as well as the stones themselves. This is a site of global importance, and the links between the different areas still need much research.
The last thing this landscape needs is a big road with a tunnel cutting through it.
The area around Stonehenge is all part of an important prehistoric landscape, and having road and tunnel running through it will damage that landscape irrevocably. This concerns me greatly as a trained archaeologist. This is, after all, a World Heritage Site, at the moment. Is it really a good idea to imperil that status just for a slightly quicker car journey? Other options should have been considered.
