I object to the planned works on several grounds.

I believe that they will do irreparable damage to a World Heritage Site and that irreplaceable potential for achaeological examination and understanding of the site will be destroyed. We have a duty to preserve it in as undamaged a state as possible, both for ourselves and for future generations.

I don't think enough weight has been given to the objections of those experts who fully understand the importance of the site. The principle of 'first do no harm' should apply here, and they believe that it will do harm. This is not something that can be undone a generation hence, or ever.

Preservation of our heritage should always take priority over the convenience of road users, especially at a time when the Government should be working to reduce road use and pollution.
