These plans are likely to:

  • cause irreparable damage to the World Heritage Site and its archaeology and setting, which has been described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’. UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form.

  • damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting

  • impede alternative options in consultation that would not damage the World Heritage Site

  • cause loss of the view from the road, and create the need to pay to see the Stones in future

  • disturb rare bird species (Stone Curlew and Great Bustard)

  • increase noise from faster traffic
