I am convinced that the proposed road will inflict unconscionable harm to the Wold Heritage Site. In particular the tunnel approach and exit will carve huge swathes through potentially important archaeological deposits. The road will not 'unite the parts of the site' as claimed, rather it will further divide them. The WHS has to be seen in its whole extent, not just 'around the stones'. Further the important view of sunset from the monument would be badly obscured by the western portals. Damage has already been done to the important pre-Stonehenge Mesolithic site at Blick Mead, and no more of this should be allowed.
