The whole area is officially either World Heritage status or of significant historical significance, which the scheme will either damage or destroy. It needs to be recognised that Stonehenge is one of the few British monuments that is known worldwide, and, as such, earns vast tourist income directly and indirectly. The options and implications should be conducted on the scale of a national referendum, not reviewed under the radar in writing.
