Construction of this road would result in irreparable damage to this World Heritage Site. There is still an unknown amount to learn about its archaeology and setting.
This site is described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’ and their international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form.
Dear sir/madam.
I would like to register my objection to the A303 Expressway on the following grounds:
1/ the irreparable damage to the WHS, its archaeology and setting;
2/ possible damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting;
3/ possible damage to undiscovered archaeology;
4/ disturbance of rare bird species such as the Stone Curlew and Great Bustard and
5/ increased noise from faster traffic.
In addition UNESCO has described the site as a ‘landscape without parallel’ and UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form.
I hope that you will consider my concerns about this proposed development and you take heed of all the representations you receive from similarly apprehensive parties.
Yours faithfully
Denis Rumbold [redacted]
