I have listened to Mike Parker Pearson's explanation about why the proposed road changes at Stonehenge are so damaging and wish to register my request that an alternative solution is explored and implemented to prevent what I have heard will be the irreparable damage to this WHS, its archaeology and setting, described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’. I have also been told that UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form.
I have also heard that there are concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting, and that another result of this scheme will be the disturbance of rare bird species (Stone Curlew and Great Bustard). The increased noise from faster traffic will also affect the enjoyment of those coming from all over the world to see this very special site.
