Sacred Sites International Foundation believes that this proposed road development would have an adverse effect on Stonehenge, a remarkable, sacred, UNESCO World Heritage Site and its surrounding sacred landscape. The tranquility of the setting is an important non-tangible element that should not be ignored. The noise of fast-moving traffic would interfere with the experience of viewing Stonehenge. Sacred Sites International also believes that the archaeology of Stonehenge would suffer over time from the emissions caused by passing traffic. The proposed road scheme should not go ahead as currently planned and alternative options should be presented for open public and expert review.
