I strongly oppose this scheme on multiple grounds:
- In general road budget should be focused on fixing and improving existing roads, especially with the backdrop of climate change it's not acceptable to invest vast sums of resources into new roads which will inevitably increase motor traffic
- In particular this scheme would cause irreparable damage to this World Heritage Site and the natural environment around it
So all in all the ideal outcome would be using some of this budget on improving existing roads (prioritising users other than private vehicles) and using the rest delivering quality public transport in the area.
