I object to the proposed tunnel.

The immense value of Stonehenge, of all monuments, requires us to take a long-term, not a short-term view. The proposed tunnel will do immense and irreparable harm and damage to the wider Stonehenge site, to meet a perceived short-term need for managing traffic on the A303.

In this 21st century we should all be minimising our travel, even if there is a move to electric vehicles, because of damaging impacts (damage to landscape and ecosystems, disruption, space taken up, etc). The proposed tunnel is an out-moded response to a mis-conceived problem.

We do not yet know the full extent of the Stonehenge landscape, and it should be conserved for future understanding and archaeological techniques. The integrity of Stonehenge, our future understanding of it and its legacy should be paramount.

I urge the Inspectorate not to grant consent for the tunnel.
