I am opposed to plans to 'improve' the A303 which seem to be in reckless disregard for preservation of the world heritage site. It concerns me that advice from UNESCO is not being listened to. I am also concerned about damage to assets in the ground yet to be uncovered by future archeologists such as the Blick Mead mesolithic site. There are also issues with rare birds which need to be accommodated. It seems to me that this extraordinary landmark is worth more to Salisbury now and in the future if it is looked after properly than the value of a new highway. I am sure that transport difficulties can be resolved without causing damage to Stonehenge, if the authority is willing to take a responsible course. Whatever you do, it must not be at the expense of the truth of English heritage, which remains to be discovered, and will reveal itself in time but only with our patience and respect.
