As a previous native citizen of Salisbury who has visited Stonehenge, I am deeply concerned that any major engineering work (including, but not limited to, excavation) in the vicinity of the monument would involve possibly irrevocable damage to the site and its surrounding artifacts. Archaeological investigation of that region is by its very nature incomplete and likely eventually to reveal considerably more data about the period around the last ice-age.
Therefore I most strongly urge that strenuous efforts be made to investigate thoroughly any likely (or even just possible) unforeseen consequences of such engineering before a final decision is reached and that all interested parties be notified in a timely way of such decisions.
